Is that battery the one they recommend for the tray or one you already own?
Hi all - im 17 year Pajero owner that has just traded her in for a near new 2016 d4.
I’m finding a few challenges with the disco- I have an intervolt dual battery system and an arb compressor and have heard a few ideas on these forums about where and how to fit them.
I just put a deposit down on an outback accessories battery tray - can you all advise whether this is a wise idea or whether I should use something else?
The deep cycle battery is near new 95ah hi tec brand.
I kind of like the idea of fitting the compressor under the bonnet and one of you on the forum mounted theirs on the arb battery tray ? Couldn’t load those attached images from that thread though.
Any help would be appreciated!
Cheers,
Dave

Hi Dave, welcome to a new frontier of vehicle ownership.
When I bought my vehicle and joined the forum I looked through the forum for some members where I am and contacted them I then went and talked to them it was an easy way to learn a lot about the vehicle in a very short period of time. I found the AULRO members to be very open, friendly and helpful. You can discuss all the really common issues, like dual batteries, tyres, trailer wiring and if you can talk to someone about diagnostic tools. So, if you can just hook up with some people near you and in a couple of hours you will learn so much that it will amaze you and start to discover just what a great vehicle you have. If you were in SA I would be happy to help.

Hi Dave and welcome,
To put the battery and compressor under the bonnet there are pretty much 2 options- in front of the battery compartment on the passenger side and in the driver’s side battery box (which contains ABS module)
If you have a look through this thread you can see the 2 locations used for both compressor and battery: ARB CMK Compressor/ Traxide setup
Both locations present some limitations for the size of battery you can fit. Also, only the single ARB compressor will fit in the battery box but the twin unit can be mounted in front of the passenger side battery box.
I work at Macquarie Park - you are welcome to come and take a look at mine if it helps. Drop me a PM if you want to tee this up.
David

Hi Tombie
its one i already own - near new bought last year. Id rather have the right setup than hack something around a battery that doesn't work for the new car. Main thing is the intervolt system is saved - thats where the expense is at.
To late to cancel the Outback accessories tray so lesson learned.
Cheers
David
With an 80/85AH battery in the aux. tray and a Traxide reg you will pretty much have your 100ah available and room for the compressor in front of the main battery.
I sold my 105ah as it was too big and got an 85AH which fits snugly in the aux battery tray with a trimmed lid.

Hey Dave,
Congrats on the purchase.
I have a single ARB installed in front of the factory battery on my D3, see here:
Dirty Drifters on Instagram: “Onboard air supply sorted!

I just bent up a metal bracket and hard wired to the battery. Speaking of which I also have the traxide dual battery kit with an optima yellow top, which mounts in the spare drivers side battery tray.
I also mounted my UHF radio in that spare battery box, with all the controls on the handset in the cab. Leaves the engine bay and interior nice and clean imo.
Cheers,
Adam
