Thread: What tyre will fit on D4 20 Inch rims

It would be very helpful if somebody could respond to the below.

I have got 255/50/20 on my 2015 discovery 4. I can get a set of 255/55/20 at a very good price. Has anyone done this in the past and are their any know issues? Will be vehicle be roadworthy if I do that?

Also I have read in the forum that some have changed from 255/50/20 to 265/50/20. Doesn’t this require a change in rim due to the extra width?

255 55 20 will be fine, 265 50 20 doesn’t require a rim change as the 20” rim has plenty of width for that tyre.
Most go for the 265 50 20 as there are AT tyres in that size, the 255s tend to be road tyres.

Thanks Geedublya for the response. I had called Bridgestone and Bob Jane and they both mentioned that it is not possible to for a different size and I was concerned.

Should I be worried about anything other than speedo playing around when I go for 255/55/20 or 265/50/20?

Also any idea if the 265/50/20 will fit in the current spare tyre location?

You can do the calcs yourself. 255/55 has a wall height of 140.25mm.
A 265/50 has a wall height of 132.50mm. As you can see, your 265 at a 50 profile has a lower overall diameter so will fit. 10mm extra width will not affect its pull up into the space.

Speed shown will become more accurate but distance travelled will be out slightly as the speed is adjusted to read high for ADRs.

Yeah got it. I currently have 255/50/20 that is a wall height of 127.5.

Thanks to all the advise. I am currently planning to go for 265/50/20 which has a wall height of 132.5.

As per 4*4uk website the difference in speed is minimal from 30 miles to 30.63 miles with larger tyres.

Yes, The ADRs require speedometers to read high. This assists to prevent people from speeding.
