    D3 Petrol Performance Upgrades

    Hello All

I just wanted to know what can be done to the 4.0ltr V6 to improve performance. I'm looking for any suggestions from the simple tips and tricks to the full blown out modifications.

It would be good to here what people have tried and tested and what they gained from it.

I'm happy enough with the D3 as is but I thought I would ask the question.

Bolt on a supercharger. The Americans do it for the ford rangers!

Haha just kidding. I have looked into this quite a bit. Not much out there for the petrols honestly. I noticed a tiny power increase after cleaning the mass airflow sensor and changing the air filter.
Realistically it has a decent amount of power for what it is, i feel like trying to squeeze more out of the engine that is already struggling will cause problems.

They seem to be pretty reliable engines in the D3's. I would love a little more power or economy but I much prefer the reliability over either at the moment.

My first thoughts would be exhaust and tune, though O have no idea of what's available. After that you're looking at a supercharger (where do you put it!?) or the like.

Let us know how you go if you find anything

Try Autocode in Bentley. They do a ECU remap for the 4.0 V6. roughly 12kw and 35nm increase aswell as better driveability.

I'm yet to get this done but will be in the coming weeks.

    Whats that cost Leezels?

Also, do you guys suffer from the engine fan sapping power?
When mine runs, its sounds like a superfan, and the car performance is severely sapped.
Ive had a look at it, and the basic tests you do to the fan return positive...So not sure if its normal or not.
It also seems to come in at too low a temperature, I have the old-school type gaptool, is that testable?

I'd hardy even know there is a fan on mine! No roaring noises, no nothing.
I've seen performance chips on fleabay US sites, but I'm figuring it is a reliable engine, so don't mess with it.
Will follow this and see what others find.

Mine roars sometimes when first taking off, though I understand its a test procedure. Car does feel more sluggish, but could also be that its cold and running a richer mix then normal.

Lately I wouldn't mind better economy. Still hovering at 17L/100km which is compounded by spending 20c/L more for premium!

Cost for the tune is $1150. Includes some ecu, transmission and air susp updates aswell. I would have gone chip torque but there is no installers is WA. After some googling stumbled apon autocode. He said he has done a heap of V6s which is comforting.
