I don't think that the small difference in tyre wear will make much difference when you are rolling But it Will make quite a difference under heavy braking and will tend to pull the truck to one side, Maybe if you put the newer tyre on the rear and keep the front wheels the same wear both sides.

Ffs.... it HAS been shown to have a bearing on the vehicles DSC.
He may be lucky, road crowns etc have nothing to bloody do with it... Adelaide hills of which I’m very familiar again has nothing to do with it, loading and unloading opposing sides...
For several weeks after having to fit the new spare to the LHR after staking it on the Highway the DSC on the D4 would cut in on right hand turns. This went on until the tyre scuffed itself to the same diameter as the roaded ones...
Where the original rubber had done 20,000km the new tyre wore down to the same tread depth in under 4 weeks and 5000km.
