    EPB Switch D4

Anyone had a faulty EPB switch in a D4,and changed it?

Its the micro switch that the lever in the centre console activates.

I need to change mine as it is shagged,

Apparently the D3 is relatively easy, but the D4 is very difficult.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Paul,

Can't say that I've done it but the procedure in the WSM doesn't look too onerous.

Pop the cup holder out, 2 screws to release the lower console. Pull up (hard) rear end, slide rearwards and lift out the back edge, then flip.

    Then this procedure:

    Thanks Dave,

I eventually found a vid on U tube late last night that showed how to get the centre console out.

Didn't show how to remove the switch, but from your pics it doesn't look too hard.

Ordered a new switch today,so will have a crack at it on the weekend.

Its an absolute mongrel of a job, centre console comes out easy, but the whole thing has to be dismantled to fit the new switch.
Very difficult to do,you have to wonder WTF were they thinking, particularly if you compare it with how easy the switch in the D3 is to change.

Looking at the pics on David's post, notice the centre console is stripped completely bare. What they don't say is that has to be done then reassembled.

Not a quick and easy job at all, very difficult.

The manual for the Discovery is over 5000 pages and is the most poorly descriptive I’ve come across. Pictures with no words but a highlighted element. No hints. No hint, no tips.
You have no idea of the effort or pain involved.

They must have gone downhill, because i have the complete LR D2 workshop manual, three volumes, which is very good, lots of explanations, and descriptive pics.

I actually would like to sell them if anyone wants it.

I did a D4 park brake switch a couple of weeks ago. Took about 5 minutes.
