Hi everyone sorry if this has been covered before , but have done a service all good but was unsure about filter location and if I need to fill filter with fuel or does it self prime... any help would be good help..!!

						I have recently replaced my fuel filter, and had problems with it leaking ( twist on version ).
I had to replace the 2 o rings which meant that I had to buy a genuine filter to get the o rings, which are supplied with it.
I do have 2 aftermarket filters and it would be good if someone knows how I can get the o rings separately
Any good bearing shop will sell orings even autobarn.

No it doesnt self prime.
Turn ignition on, count to about 20 seconds, turn off, repeat about 5 or 6 times.

Aftermarket fuel filters come with the o rings. Also come with a plastic plug for the bottom just in case you wreck the water sensor as i did last time.
Oh and a hint - if you wreck the sensor it is more expensive buying it individually than it is to buy the kit that comprises the sensor, fuel filter and fuel filter housing - ask me how I know.
Also for the OP - just in case you are not aware - the fuel filter changed in about late 06 so make sure you get the right one for your VIN - they are not interchangeable.
To find the fuel filter - remove the gearbox protector "bash plate"
Lie under the car feet to the rear - head at the drivers front wheel looking back and you see this cover above the gearbox X member

I changed mine, well I had younger help, for the first time the other day. Not the most user friendly of locations, what were the designers thinking? While reasonably easy to do in the garage while jacked up, I find myself unable to imagine trying to change the filter in the dirt on the side of the road after a "water in diesel event"
Has anyone out there had to change their's in adverse conditions? Any tips/tricks?
