Guys thanks for your feedback..........I understand that the airbag itself is still good for a few years yet. My issue is not one of worry about airbag failure, rather it is one of esthetics i.e. the pad on the airbag has lifted (curled up/down) at the top and bottom from the effects of the sun. I have gradually been doing up this vehicles interior and this is the last issue that is really bugging me. Yes, I do know the steering wheel airbag is expensive. I am prepared to replace the airbag but I did not want to use a D3 version as a replacement as every one of those I have seen has the same problem i.e. the pad lifting at the top and bottom, whereas my D4 has not lifted or deteriorated to any visible extent in my 6 and a bit years of ownership. I was looking to purchase a D4 version. My concern is the connecting plug which knowing the way LR does things may just be different. I guess one way to find out is pull out the D4's and have a look! I was just wondering if anyone knew if they were the same and save me a job.....basically lazy I guess!
