D4 windscreen wipers - different codes - which one?

Here’s something that worked for me.

My wipers were juddering wiping both ways. I took them off, and wiped some protectant on the rubbers on both sides and in the grooves. Left the protectant sit for a couple of hours and then wiped off well with a rag (no cleaning product).

Result, beautiful quiet wipe both ways, and no streaks at all!!! Even to the point that when washing the windscreen, each wipe leaves it totally dry.

in this case mcguiars interior protectant was on hand, but any should work. I believe it will also help longevity of new wipers.

Give it a go, I was surprised at how well it worked and will be doing it from now on.

When I last replaced mine l found that they were different lengths. I was replacing the original fitted blades so that presumably is normal. I used Bosch and they were indeed different lengths too. Surprisingly the driver's blade appeared to give 1 to 2 cm less coverage than the original despite the doco saying it was the same length as OEM. Must get a new set, it's been a while.

Thanks Martin, I’ll check to see the way I set it up. I think I may have done it that way, well 50% chance anyway. I have full wiping coverage so even if back to front it still works ok.

Some people, me included, have had trouble with a knocking noise after blade replacement. Mine happens when the blades are at top speed mainly. The blade is not hitting the A pillar but the arm apparently becomes twisted.

Purely out of curiosity, if you check the Land Rover Discovery 4 manual it sets out a procedure for changing the wipers which involves switching the ignition on and off and pressing the wiper stalk in a specific way so that the wipers move to a "service position". Presumably the wipers move to a position mid-way up the windscreen.

Has anyone here ever used this service position procedure?

Actually the front two appear to need to be the same length - that's how the online suppliers provide them.

When I bought my last set they were different lengths. Maybe they've simplified things and made them the same. I just looked at my old e-mails and the advice from Bosch Australia was that the BBA530 was the passenger side and the BBA550 was the drivers side. The difference being 20mm. I don't really think it would make much difference.

I have to say, having wipers the same length on the left and right seems to be uncommon these days.
