You looking at A/T or M/T?
I haven't tried them but a few have - there's some other threads on them. Everything I've seen of the A/T has been good.
Hopefully someone with first hand experience will be along shortly.
Cheers
Dan
Hey all,
Considering a number of different tyres for an upcoming CSR trip and due to not working currently the budget is a little tighter.
I'm torn between Nitto Terra Grapplers and the Maxxis AT700 at the moment, with the Nittos currently the 20" tyre on our D4 so far getting the tick.
But, I have spotted the Monsta tyres and noticed not only their good pricing, but higher load rating. With the knowledge that a few people on here have them, how are they holding up and would you be confident in taking them somewhere like the Canning.
They will be going on a set of Tuffants and I'm looking at either a 265/60(65)R18 or 285/60R18.
Thanks in advance for your replies.

Been running the AT's for about 7 months, no issues so far but haven't really tested them off road yet.
Handle well in the wet and dry.

I'm aiming for AT's as there will be a bit of sand work AND the highway home from Alice Springs.
Just want to have a bit of confidence in them and not something I'm going to have to worry about.

So I thought I'd give an update and a bit of a report.
I ended up purchasing the 265/60 R18 Monsta Terrain Gripper. They have a 114XL load rating which was what I needed.
Since late June this year the tyres have completed the Canning Stock Route, Great Central HWY and as much of Kakadu as you can drive. We also towed our little Jayco Dove Outback around Kakadu, except the Jim Jim Falls Rd.
In all they have probably traveled approximately 3600km of dirt and 2800 of bitumen.
Out of the six tyres, one still has its sticker, I have had no punchers or notible damage from sharp rocks, one has a mark in the side wall from hitting a termite mound (one of those jump out of nowhere types) and one I swapped out due to some weird rim damage.
They are starting to show signs of cracking between the treads, where you would expect it after travelling gravel roads at speed and they wearing quick as you would expect after dirt work then bitumen.
I haven't driven them in the wet yet, so can't comment there, but I am a bit iffy about towing on them, but that could be just being used the 20's. They seemed to wiggle a bit.
If you are keen for a cheap 18 to do the job, I would recommend them for sure. As for longevity, time will tell.![]()

Just goes to show the difference between a cheaper tyre and a expensive tire, less than 7000km and already showing signs of cracking. Not good !!

It's no different to any other tyre I have had. The Kuhmos on my Rangie have done it, the original Pirelli's did it on the D4. It's just signs of cracking where the tiny rocks have been smashed into it, not huge valleys opening up showing belt.
The Kuhmos have done nearly 100k (easily 32k of dirt), where the Pirelli's only lasted about 45k before I was forced to change them.
I only expect these tyres to last 40-50k at the most. They are for trips only and I plan to swiftly change back to the 20's for everyday use, as I'm not keen on the soft cushy ride.
I will note though, I instantly noticed a difference in acceleration with these wheels on.
