It may well have been – it'd be interesting to see if there are any fault codes to provide a bit of explanation. Don't suppose you've got an IIDtool or similar?
How long since you last had the fuel filter changed? Common rail diesels really don't like dirty fuel; dirty fuel is a really good way to buy yourself an expensive service! Fuel filters seem to be one of those things that gets missed sometimes, so I reckon it's worth taking a specific interest in it.
My "preventative" diesel care regime is this: shock treat the fuel system with Fuel Doctor every service (5,000km) and 30ml in with every refill. The Land Rover maintenance check sheet calls for a change every 24 months under normal conditions or 12 under arduous, but I do it every service. They're cheap, it doesn't do any harm and it might actually do a whole lot of good.
