I agree, the butterflies don’t fully close at least on Oz delivered L322s. Autocode/Gally (emulator seller) told me the same thing.

Occasionally the revs drop when idling for a moment by 150rpm. I presume that is the butterflies partially closing/activating.

Had a look at my B/Fly with the engine running after fitting emulators and the movement is very small , ( held in place by a pretty strong spring ) , probaly not enough to effect engine at idle i would think . If your emulators ever fail you can just use another set of EGR,s in there place , tried this on my 2007 2.7 sport and work exactly the same , but be sure to get left and right rite or it will throw a code , mine did anyway , but no engine light and did not go into limp mode .

My 2007 Euro 4 2.7 sport is fitted with emulators and stores a P0402 code which i believe is sent by the MAFF recording excess Flow when in EGR mode , has no noticble effect on engine that i can tell and Pete Bell said just ignore it for my yr model so have ignored it now for 4 yrs . Supprising how clean the air intake is now without EGR filling engine with crap.

Agree , did mine before all these simple softwear rewrites were available or there abouts , wont worry about now , it will be ok untill the bone yard . Was thinking about an upgrade but i think like everthing else these days it is not worth it , everything that was simple and fun is now being erroded by the lets prohibit everything polce :coplight: , what is it now no fuel burining cars by 2030 or something in europe . So I pulled my EGR pipes and inlet Y airbox out today to have a look at the system. Holy heck the air box was FILTHY. I cleaned that no worries but when I peeked into the air inlet manifolds it was disgusting. How much of a job is it for a backyarder to get the left and right air manifolds off for a clean? It looks like the bowels of hell in there right now.

Got tired of paying to have them cleaned out (and I do long hard runs so expected they would stay clean(er).

However, had both my EGR's "blanked" (and some adaptors added to fool the computer), and ever since the vehicle runs waaaaaaaaaay cooler.
It gets to operating temperature soon enough, but I notice temp gauge often doesn't get to halfway mark for up to 6-7 K's, and even longer if I am driving about city.
If left parked up in 50+C heat with aircon running, temp needle does not move above halfway mark.
Seems that much coolant used to cool EGR's is no longer being heated up by them.

The engine doesn’t run cooler, it just (as you said) takes longer to get some heat in it - and become efficient!

The second comment regarding idling in 50c+ - the gauge won’t move, they’re normalised! Additionally, by then the cooling system, thermostat and fans are fully into effect...

What can run hot, if you haven’t mapped to suit the EGR flow disappearing, is your EGTs....

I have just replaced the plastic coolant outlet[LR073372] on my D4 3.0 as preventative maintenance,seems it has been slightly strengthenedAttachment 140608 With it all apart couldn't help but notice how clean the inlet and MAP was, admittedly it was remapped by Gally[Autocode] back in 2015. Immaculate, compared to my old TD5 manifold before it had the EGR blanked off.Attachment 140609 Attachment 140610 Attachment 140611
