Territory motor in Disco 3 Not Happy

    Hi,

Just finished putting a Territory 2.7 in my Disco 3 went to start it this morning, it started but stopped about 3 or 4 seconds later and will not keep running unless you keep pushing the accelerator pedal. It also gave me 2 codes

P2788 Injector control pressure to high
P0193 Fuel rail pressure sensor high input

Also does anyone know if the Territory fuel pressure sensor is plug compatible with the Discovery one.
Does anyone have any idea's, not sure what to do next any help appreciated.

    Regards Bob

I know that there have been threads on this forum about this replacement before - have you read up on those?

I thought you just used the bare Territory engine and moved all your LR sensors, wiring and ancillaries over to the Territory engine.

I had an issue last year when I had a high fuel pressure fault (cant remember the exact code) but that turned out to be a blocked fuel filter

    Hi,
First attempt to start on Friday primed fuel system cranked over and it started first go ran 3 seconds and stopped same thing 3 or 4 times checked codes P0193 fuel rail pressure sensor high input, P2788 Injector control pressure to high, ok that didn't go well. Plan B leave territory sensor in fuel rail plugged disco sensor in and leave on top of motor cleared codes, tried to start cranked but would not fire gave a speed sensor code plan C Made a reducer to fit the disco sensor into the territory fuel rail and see what happens tomorrow fingers crossed

Ahhhh - I get it now - the Territory sensor is a smaller thread size than the Disco one. Now it makes sense why you plugged in the Disco sensor but left it sitting on top of the engine.

    Hi,

This is becoming interesting used the LR fuel pressure sensor because the ecu did not like the territory one.
Engine will still not run more than 3-4 seconds, but when running the fuel pressure is up to 50,000 psi, not good.
The only time the engine ran and idled was when we had a small leak in the fuel rail.
Now trying to find out if the fuel pressure regulator on the hpfp is working.
This is starting to do my head in.

    Hi Bob
Did you use the disco injectors. I purchased a disco 3 about 6 months ago with a territory motor fitted and the seller said he put the disco injectors in because the territory ones are set up for different pollution requirements and are not compatable. My disco is a 2005 model and the territory motor is 2011. It could be worth checking if this is true.

    Hi,

I don't think the territory injectors are the problem we had the motor running and idling and revving when we had a fuel leak from the fuel rail,
there was diesel leaking from the reducer I had made for the Land Rover fuel pressure sensor. On the Territory motor the sensor fits on the front of the fuel rail on the passenger side. I assume that this was lowering the fuel pressure enough
for the motor to run. After sealing the leak it went back to 50,000 psi and the motor only ran for about 3 seconds. I have the feeling that the problem is with the Territory fuel pressure regulator,
but am unsure how to prove this theory. I know that computer is working as I connected an oscilloscope to the fuel pressure regulator plug and the computer is sending 5 volt square pulses to the pressure regulator.
I am trying to keep as much of the Territory motor as I can its only done 67,000 kms and the Land Rover engine has done 250,000 kms.

    Regards Bob

    Hi Bob
I would certainly swap over the fuel pressure regulator, from memory (bad one) the territory fuel system runs a higher pressure than the early land rover and this may play up with the engine management system, once again not sure.
