    D4 HSE Towing mods?

    Hi folks;

I’ve just purchased an very nice 2013 HSE with only 50,000 kms on the clock as an dedicated tow vehicle for my Zone 20.6 Off Road van. 2300kgs.

Are there any modifications such as uprated transmission cooler that I should consider for the Disco?

I’ll be fitting Clear View mirrors, Redarc Tow Pro Elite next week at the dealership, and maybe an Lithium accessory battery and suitable regulator in the not too distant future.

Long Range fuel tank will definitely go in as well. Any recommendation re which one to get?

    Thanks.

    Ken

Just the hitch. I’d be upgrading it.
The cooler will more than handle the load Ken.

Congratulations on your new D4 and welcome to the club.

Thanks Tombie, good on you mate.
Great to hearer the Transmission being fine re cooling.
Yes, I’ll look into the hitch as well when I take it to ARB. I not sure what is currently fitted as I’ve not seen the vehicle. I pick it up next Saturday when I fly down to Melbourne.
Thanks mate. I am just a bit excited!

Regular fluid changes (40k ish) but to my knowledge there’s no steel pan for 8 speeds at the moment.

Not sure about the steel pan Mike. My cars booked in to have the oil change/pan done a bit later in the year before we head off on our working lap. I'll find out if there is actually a steel pan, but my understanding is there is (?).

Not sure about the hitch and its "worth while-ness". I originally bought one for mine, but then ended up not worrying about changing it over, as for me, I'm happy to just remove the hanger for off road work, and not really looking for off road towing, although we did with the original set up supplied,,, no issues. For my van, I ended up buying a different tongue which stepped up the height to suit leveling the van out. A much cheaper option.

With the mirrors, they don't,, but maybe this has since changed,, they don't have mirrors to suit the HSE with the camera's and sensor's in them,, but this may only concern 2014 onwards (?).

Long range tank, I think there's only the two options (?), but we're happy enough with our OL product, but still can't decide if I should have got the other with separate transfer. I guess though, if I happen to stake a full tank, I've probably got more issues to deal with than a lack of fuel.

Well done on getting the new ride Ken,, no doubt you'll love it . Depending on when/where exactly your in Melb, give us a call especially if you need a lift prior to picking up your car, catch up and have a coffee or something.

Thanks for the great info Markus, good on you.
I think I’d go an long range tank without an seperate transfer pump.
My Sister is doing the taxi service for me thanks mate so won’t get a chance to catch up, but I hope to cross paths down Sth in the future.
    Good on you.

Marcus let me know about the pan too.... i couldn't find any even from ZF themselves...

Luckily the L322 has no crossmember in the way so plastic pan replacement is a piece of cake... just not cheap🙄
The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈
