    Engine Oil - V6 petrol D3

I know its a perennial question, but I'm doing my first oil change in my petrol D3 and I'm looking at Castrol Magnatec 5W30 from Repco at $50 for a 5L container or Penrite at $44 for 6L.
I know the V6 is nothing terribly hitech so can't really see the point of fully synthetic oil if I'm changing it every 10K.
Is there anything better I could use?

The Castrol Stop/Start 5w30 is on special for $40 atm, a few people recommend that. I've been using Penrite Enviro Plus, because it was what the mechanic used(2.7TDV6 has the same factory recommendations).

Some people say Penrites rubbish, others say Castrol is rubbish. Some say only use Fuchs Oil, and then there's the Royal Purple crowd.

I figure none of them know which is best, so I put in what the LR indy told me to and hope for the best!

I am using Castrol Magnatec. Previously was using liqui moly full synthetic. Not seeing and feeling any difference to be honest.

I use valvoline FE,which is the specified oil,not massively more expensive than the mineral stuff.

FWIW,i would only use the specified oil, anything else could be asking for issues, but thats just me.

Oil is much cheaper than engine problems.

I Would use the specified oil and change it twice as often.
Replacing the timing chains is an engine out job, and needs a special tool which very few would have.
The cost would be eye watering.
And the most common failure is the timing chains.
Otherwise the engine is the most produced engine in the World so all other bugs were ironed out many years ago.
