    I have just bought this d3 and the compressor has failed. The car has a full service history from date of birth till now and the compressor was updated 2 years and ten months ago. Removal and reinstallation does not appear to be to difficult but boy oh boy are they expensive little gizmos, i could buy a very good air compressor for my workshop plus a heap of airtools for the price of these babies that will fit in your hand. Anyway has anyone got any handy tips for replacing these as in being under the car and bolting it in etcetera they do look fairly easy to replace

    Hi Pete. Welcome to the forum and congratulations.

    Take a look at Advanced Factors UK.
    They have a few more affordable options to consider.

    Your compressor failure - can you describe the symptoms - it may just need a kit put through it.

    A good tip - don’t shortcut LR maintenance with quality of work or sub standard parts - that will bite you.

    it has totally failed i took the car to mr at redcliffe to put it on the diagnostics it was working sort of then but very loud it has now failed totally does not pump at all i still have my old d1 so that will get me to work .

    Its not too bad to remove the compressor. The top bolt is hard to get to - from memory there's not enough space to get a hand up there. Other than that it's a piece of cake - unless the air pipes don't want to come out of the connectors on the compressor. I'd get a couple of spare quick connects and some hose handy in case - if you don't use them they're good to have as spares anyway.

    Also, have you check the "air dryer" to see if its in good order? The desiccant stuff inside them can block the air travel, causing your compressor to work harder. A pump dying in 2 years might point to it having to work extra hard to pump air into the system.

    Get a lot of lube spray on the air hose connectors. They push in to release.

    Need a socket extension with a flex joiner to get at top bolt. And a very good position to see what’s going on.

    My original still going strong 10 years with a desiccant change only.

    I also did service check the intake in behind the LH tail light.
