Tombie is right. For reliability change the battery especially given the low batt warnings. Justinc is right too, just change the alternator and live in bliss knowing it won’t fail. You’ll sleep better at night.

I have a diagnosis of sorts.
The dealer has diagnosed that the bearing on the front of the alternator is failing and is loading up the belt, and it is actually the tensioner that is squealing. A new alternator and tensioner is covered by warranty but I have to pay for a new belt. I'm OK with this as this can become a spare belt for travelling.
The kicker is that there are no D4 alternators in Australia so it has to come from the UK. A 2 week wait. They have offered a loan car for this period, a new Holden unfortunately as they are selling any Landrover or Jag they can get their hands on!
Also, 2 years ago I replaced my main battery when the original battery failed. I was too far away from the dealer to bother about a warranty claim so put a DELKOR AGM battery in it. In my battery check last night I found a genuine Landrover battery in it! I have no idea when this happened! It could only have been during a service but I did not pay for it. I asked the dealer to check the warranty history and he couldn't find it on there either. This has me stumped....
I totally disagree with that diagnosis.... the load created from up to 180Amps fluctuating load will make that belt squeal like a stuck pig....
