    D3 Replacement Rotors & Pads

    Hello All

Looking to replace the front brakes on my D3 (V6 Petrol)
I have phoned around the local parts specialists here in Perth and the prices vary vastly. (Rotors - $120 > $230 each)
I'm looking for some feed back on what people have fitted and found to be good value also interested to see if anyone has used these rotors supplied from one of the Ebay sellers.

Best price I got on T2 DBA slotted was $190 pair delivered on eBay from Sydney.

Search eBay with the DBA part numbers and they’ll come up.

I'd recommend the Akebono pads. I picked up a front set for under $70 off eBay a while ago.

They're as good as dustless (they have a grey dust which occurs much less than standard), but I do remember feeling that they lost some initial bite over standard pads. Still plenty good to activate the ABS though.

A little bit of heat and they bite hard.
With T2 slotted rotors they grab nicely when called upon.

Yeah I probably made it sound worse than it is. I've never found them wanting, or lamented installing them. Just a seat of the pants feeling I had when I first changed. It could well have just been they weren't fully bedded too (though I did do the bedding in procedure them in beforehand)

You’re correct though - compared to metal pads they don’t have that touchiness where a slight touch grabs the rotor.

Well you did very well Tombie, cheapest I can see for those is not far off double that.

Are you finding the slotted rotors are lasting longer than the standard ones. think my first set we worn down to minimum thickness by 80,000ks, and looking at the set I replaced them with wont get any more , but they are the supposed to be the same as the first original set.

    Cheers Ean

Fronts have almost negligible wear at 120k with Akebono pads.

Rear stock rotors and stock pads - stuffed now... T2 going on soon.

Just checked the seller I got mine from - they’ve gone up significantly...
