    Cooling system crossover pipe

I’m looking at doing a cooling system flush. The service note from my indie says to replace the cooling system crossover pipe at the same time. Can find lots of info on exhaust crossover pipe but not on the former.

Does it have another name? Part number? Ease of replacement?

    Thanks
    Sean

It’s the plastic thingamajig on top of the engine with several small hoses prone to cracking after 7 or so years due to heat fatigue. Replace this and water pump at timing belt change (and oil pump housing if <MY09)

Think the consensus was that it’s cheap enough as a genuine part to replace each 7 years or so.

Have seen them there. Tempted but a tad expensive.

Am going to replace it when I do the flush.

Seen it referred to by a number of names but never a “crossover pipe”. Not really a pipe at all.

They’ve had a few fail too!

That family doing the big lap had a stock one go (very old) and fitted the billet unit - and it failed very quickly.

The genuine part is $75.00 and goes 5+ years

I don't know how the aluminium one would fail. I've had one for the last 100,000 km, including a couple of trips around Australia which included the Gibb River Road, Great Central Road, rough roads from Coober Pedy through Birdsville and Lawn Hill to Darwin etc etc, all towing 2.5 t, with no issues at all. I have no problem recommending it, apart from the cost.
