    D3 Winch Bar

I'm looking to get a winch bar for my D3 HSE. I currently have front parking sensors which I would like to keep if possible and from my research so far this leaves me with Opposite Lock as the only option (ARB seem not to accommodate sensors for the D3 bar). I'm interested to know what the OL bar looks like however their website only has a representative photo of a bar for the D3. There are plenty of images on the net of D4's with OL bars and D3's with ARB however I haven't found any clear photos of a D3 with an OL bar (I even trawled through 160 pages of the "Show Us your Disco" thread on this forum with little success). If anyone has any photos of their D3 with an OL bar that they are willing to post it would be greatly appreciated.
    TIA

I have a D4 bar from Opposite Lock so I'm not sure of the difference with the D3 but I've got some photos that may help. The things I like about this bar is the aerial mounts are towards the outer edge so don't obstruct much of your view, the bash plates seem pretty solid and the fit with the panels is nice and snug. Sensors work as well.

Not sure if it will help but i have a D3 O/L winch bar that i am about to put the top coat on , sitting on the floor in the shed. I dont think it has holes for any sensors but i cant be certain as I bought it 2nd hand and am slowly working my way to finish painting it then fitting it. I dont have front sensors on my D3 so it doesnt bother me if it doesnt have the space for them.

I can take as many pics as you like , just let me know

    Cheers Ean

OL have an early and late bar, early for D3 and early D4 with straight uprights.
Later D4 bar has angled uprights as the above photo shows, they only do one style now.

I went to my local OL dealer and looked at their bar up close. Seems now that they finish their bar in a matt black finish which has a rough texture. I guess it's to more closely match other plastic trim finishes? Anyway, I'm not too keen on this finish so now I have to decide if I want to go the ARB option (without front parking sensors). Speaking with the owner of another 4WD store near me, he suggested that the only reason the D3 bar doesn't come with the sensor mounting holes is that this option wasn't very popular when ARB designed the D3 bar which makes sense. Question - has anyone retrofitted front parking sensors to a D3 bar by drilling their own holes? I came across an ARB installation maual on this forum and this one discusses using a template to drill holes for the D4 (go figure!).

Not specifically about changing from factory matt black to semi gloss black but I would imagine they would charge me the $350 they quoted if I wanted to colour match.

Tell me to shut up if I am wrong. But front sensors sit in holes. Whether a Bar has the holes or not surely you can drill holes and fit the sensors yourself. They have an angle on them so look at that before removing them off the car for refitting to the bar. My previous 4WD had sensors front and rear and when I fitted a rear bar and bull bar I just drilled holes and fitted then accordingly. You will probably need a big drill bit (15-16mm) but surely this is doable?

Thats what I've been thinking. My rear Kaymar bar just had holes that I fitted the original sensors in and they worked a treat. Just wanted to know if anyone has done it.
