You could wire in a Qi charge pad/ mount, I'm pretty sure they work with the i phones?

						Hi all,
Spec - 2013 SDV6 SE - Harmon Kardon speakers and color touch screen display, don't know how to tell what "pack" it has...
Still trying to get my head around all the buttons etc, had a play last night and got my iPhone connected via Bluetooth.
All works fine, phone works great, streaming music from with the phone or via Spottily etc all work great and displays song names etc.
Now, when I connect via the USB cable to either the iPod or the USB dock in the center console so I Can also charge at the same time, it shuts off the blutooth.
I can still play music form the phone (but not from Spotify) but I lose the phone capability.
Does anyone know how I can cable connect the phone for music streaming and phone capability?
The only work around I found was to use my old cigarette lighter USB power adapter in the dash and thereby leaves the blutooth connected, but that's a messy solution when there's USB's and a phone tray in the center console.
Cheers.

Does that mean there's no work around with the in built system? Seems a strange way for it to be set up.
I thought it would just turn off bluetooth audio if your phone was connected via the USB port, but phone should still work.

SupporterI don't use an i Phone so I don't about turning on and off various features, but if all you want to do is charge your phone using the USB in the car maybe a Cable that does not have the data wires connected might fool both the phone and the car, and it would behave in the same way as it does with the ciggi lighter USB.
It's just a guess but may work and cheap enough to try.
Yep, snip the blue and white leave the red and black wires.

@IndusD4 - you'd think so, but nope, as soon as the cable is connected the car shuts the Blutooth off and the phone doesn't work through the cable. You hit the phone button on the head unit and it just says Blutooth deactivated. Strange system.
@kenl - great idea
@loanrangie - is that true for the Iphone's with the lightning cables?
It's frustrating as my partner often charges her phone in my car during trips, so if I'm playing music or have the phone linked via Blutooth and she plugs hers in to charge mine loses it's link to the car!
I wonder if the charge only cable would work, if the car picks up that there's "something" connected rather than waiting for feedback from the phone through the cable, then that may not work either.
Seems strange they didn't put a cigarette accessory 12v supply in that center console with the two USB ports, or at least make one of the two USB ports a dumb charge terminal and not connect both to the head unit.
No doubt apple will have some weird colour scheme but it is a USB cable after all.

I've tested this on the D5 just now and it just disconnects bluetooth audio, then continues via the cable. A phone call is still using the bluetooth connection, both for outgoing and incoming calls. It is an expensive way of fixing the problem, the other suggestions are a lot cheaper

						Sussed it!!!
Had a good play over the weekend, connected it to the cable at the iPod console socket and got the same result. Blutooth shuts off and phone worked like an iPod, i.e. no phone functionality and no streaming Spotifly etc.
Spotted a little "+" next to the My Music tab on the touchscreen, hit that and it had varous options, one was iPhone (as opposed to iPod). Chose iPhone and the phone functionality came back along with all streaming ability for podcasts etc.
Happy days.
