    D3 Nav issue

    G'day all,

Our D3 came to us with a burned nav disc. It also had the original nav disc in the manual wallet, but being a 2007 was far enough out of date to be pretty useless.
The burned disc is a V20.2014. Up to date enough not to want to spend $300 on the latest version.

Since we've had the car we've had increasing intermittent DVD read errors but not often enough to worry about, but in the last month it got to the point of being almost useless.

I did a bit of reading, and it has been mentioned that these machines prefer a double layer disc. All the cheap recordables are single layer (as was the one the car came with). I imaged the disc and burned it onto a double layer and that has completely solved the problem.

Now, that might be because burning it double layer has only used half the head travel and things were getting dicey toward the end of the disc, the recorded DVD dye being heat degraded over time or something completely different. But if you are experiencing issues with a copied nav disc this might be worth keeping in mind.

Interesting to know. I'm looking to update my original 2005 map disk (which is more than next to useless here in Sydney!!). If anyone has one they are looking to dispose off head on over to my WTB post.
