Another hitch receiver question
Hi, I'm new to aulro having just bought a D3 through a dealer. For whatever wisdom the previous owners had it didn't come with a hitch receiver or tongue which after all I've read about the original D3 receiver I would have likely replaced anyhow.
I'm scouting about for a second hand D4 original receiver but having never tested one was concerned that the 255/60R18 spare might foul with it? I understand that the D4 hitch solved this problem of removing the spare but wasn't sure if the size of the spare mattered or it would be fine? To my eye it looks it'll be ok but wanted to confirm.
I noticed BOR have a bolt on hitch but I like the idea of removal. We do tow a johnnos camper (410mm ball height) but struggle to see us towing that thing anywhere seriously off-road to warrant the additional clearance of the BOR receiver. I'll probably kick myself if I'm wrong about that. Feel free to tell me if you think i'm about to make a mistake.
My other question is whether a standard 50mm Hayman Reese tongue will plug into a D4 receiver or if some grinding is required? I thought I read somewhere that it simply won't fit regardless of any tinkering but I might be wrong about that.
Cheers
Mark, Canberra.

Mark,
I am in Canberra and have a spare lightly used D4 receiver (box trailer to the green waste) that I would be happy to sell.
I recently swapped to 265/60/R18 with no issues (although on a D4), so I'd be surprised if you had any problem.
I do not know about the Hayman Reese tongue. Others might know, or else you are welcome to just give it a try. I live in O'Connor and work in Fyshwick.
