My replacement 2009D3 battery is on a close battery watch and observe at present it might be 250,000km old but I suspect it was replaced. I have on for my boat. I know it works as I have deliberately run down the battery to test it. I doubt it would work on my D3 but some people suggest they do. Driving to Perth over Xmas. I might get a cheap and free battery test before I go and also see if the jump starter kit I have for my boat starts my D3.

I have an Antigravity Microstart XP10 and have successfully jump started my D3 on a couple of occasions. But the battery wasn’t really flat as it had just enough charge to just turn the engine over once or twice before it gave up. Don’t know how it would go with a really flat battery.

My battery had to be replaced after 3 years and 3 months, plus 2 periods of 5 weeks standing still, both within a 4-month period.
I rang the RAC (in WA - I guess it might be the NRMA for you).

They came to my driveway and fitted a 1000 CCA, 105 Ah battery for $299.
What did you have supplied for $500 plus labour of $200?
Would 1000 CCA, 105 Ah be adequate for your vehicle?

the battery just fitted is this model Exide - 850CCA, 90aH. I'm not sure of the spec of the battery you've mentioned but this is an AGM and is also a bit of an unusual shape (I think).
Dealer labour cost is dealer labour cost....[bighmmm] Once the car was there it was too painful to take my time off work to go elsewhere. I just had to wear it.

The other options I've seen mentioned here are an Odyssey PC1350 (but Tombie mentioned some issues with this), a Varta H3/G14 or a Bosch LN5(?), also mentioned by Tombie. All ~$500

Td5 battery would have been a lead acid wet cell? A D4 needs a Calcium battery.

A Varta battery cost me $340 in August 2016. When I had low battery issues this year I discovered a genuine Landrover battery in there! It must have been changed during a service but my dealer checked, there was no warranty claim made.... its got me stumped and feeling like the memory loss is kicking in.....

Ditto - $300ish for my battery, LOTS of very short drives (less than 1km), never manually charged and no problems yet 🤞

One could argue you’ve tried it your (the dealers) way and keep getting the same result, perhaps it’s time to try something else.

Also I hate the fact they charged you $200 labour, it takes all of 10 minutes to fit a new battery, time to divorce them perhaps?

Last time i rang our local dealer,which was about 2yrs ago,minimum charge was $220.

Consequently i have never had anything to do with them since.[bigwhistle]

TD5 is calcium, D4 is AGM.

I hear you. I've posted here about this before and while I know it's not good value I, perhaps naively, figure that if there is an issue that sits on the fringe of being covered by them or not, if they are the only ones who have ever serviced it then there may be more hope of a positive outcome.... That said once it's out of (now extended) warranty I'll be moving to an indy.

Thats the way,i wouldn't mind paying the big $$$ if i was getting value for money.
I have found the complete opposite from LR dealers.

Been going to the same LR indie since '04,never had an issue,quality workmanship,at a reasonable price.
