Tail light plugs/lug trim clip thing

    Hi everyone,

I installed the traxide kit this weekend, and managed to snap off one of the tail light cluster's little white plugs that keep it attached to the car body. I notice the other side is also loose, and on closer inspection it too has snapped (previous owner obviously had the same problem when wiring up the brake controller! They look pretty brittle from a life in the sun, which will likely have helped in their demise...

Anyway, does anyone know if these are a land rover spare part? They look like they would just push in, but i can't find them anywhere?

I'm referring to the red arrow bits in the picture...Untitled.jpg

I did the same. They are not orderable directly from what I can see and I couldn’t find an equivalent. In the end I’ve used sikaflex to keep it in place for now which is super punk but got me by. If you ever find them please let me know as I’ll fix mine too

Hi, a little bit difficult to see in the photo but looking in Microcat I think they might be Land Rover part numbers XZP500010 and XZP500020 (HX1 and HX2 in the pic below), unless these are the receptacles in the body for the part you are after... in which case, you're right - they don't seem to be available as a separate part.

Hmm. HX1 and HX2 look like the receivers. Could you push a heaped nail or something metallic into the place where the broken pins go?
If they are plastic, it should be possible to push something into the place where they are fixed.

Agree that HX1 and 2 are the receiver and not the pin on the light as I checked that out already.

    how i fixed it

I did the same a few weeks ago. went to land rover and you cant get these spare as they come from a different company that makes the lights.
I hit up the local Indi (Rovertech) and got a old tail light i think off a D1 and removed the pins with a socket.
a little magic with a file to re shape the head and was good to go.

the pic below i before i filed them down.

Yep - as mentioned, don't need the receiver, but rather the little white pins that push into the body, and screw into the fitting by the looks of it.

Is anyone handy with a 3D printer? Is this the type of thing they would be good at creating? Based on the amount of these lights that get pulled off (or stolen in the UK) there may be a market for repairing these?

My mate is good with tinkercad and I think still has access to a 3D printer. I’ll pose the question.
