    SDV6 replacement engine number.

Hi LR brains trust, I’m confused (as per)🙄

A couple of years ago the crankshaft in our 600Nm 08/14 D4 SDV6 cracked, and LR Australia replaced it immediately, at a cost of around $22K to them. It’s run perfectly ever since. The thing is, it goes like a startled cheetah, yet is returning less than 7.5L/100 kms average despite all the racing up and down the Blue Mtns we do here and bashing numerous bush tracks/fire trails on weekends, not to mention the long highway runs to Mildura and other music festivals I have do, often accidentally hitting 30kph above the limit (pushing 9L/100kms then).
A mate who has the SDV6 in his Disco reckons ours might be the later 700Nm SDV6 RRS variant, but I’m a bit skeptical (as per) that LR Aust would mix them up.

    Original engine # was 0860637306DT.
New engine # is stranger: 101G1090236306DT.

I’ve emailed LR Australia about it but have yet to receive a sensible reply, and googled various engine number blogs but so far to no avail.

I’d be very happy if anyone has any idea what we’ve got here!

Either way, this I s the best vehicle I’ve driven over any distance, and despite being 6’4” and all legs, it’s easily the most comfortable ever. Love this thing.

    Cheers,
    Steve.

I had assumed that the difference in performance would be due to different ecm fuel maps and possibly injectors but it is possible that the camshafts and/or valves are also different. LRA may have supplied whatever they had on hand that was at least minimum spec for your vehicle when built.

In the early 70s a mate bought a new, last of model run Falcon 6 cyl that flew. It appeared that the engine was from a special test batch built for the next model's high performance spec. vehicles.

Interesting, will keep an eye on this one. Mine is a MY11 SDV6SE 3.0 twin turbo. Remapped to 650Nm. Have you tried emailing LR UK ?
