Omega BST2000 bottle jack not jacking

Hi guys, recently purchased a new Omega BST2000 off ebay based upon recommendations from many on this site. Went to use it to change a flat in the high country and the inner piston won't hold pressure and simply sags back down when jacking making the whole thing useless. Yes i am using it correctly by tightening the thing you're meant to tighten. Did a youtube search and tried loosening it to release pressure and pump it over 20 times to release any air pockets but this hasn't helped either. Anyone know how to fix this issue or have I simply got a dud unit?

It’s probably a bit of swarf under the valve seat , try pumping it out fully then open the valve a couple of turns then stand on it to flush any crap through, repeat a few times.
The valves are usually small steel balls into a seat and any crap in there will hold them open.

if its only the inner not staying up then its most likely the pressure relief valve/oneway valve sticking.

if flushing it doesnt work by rapid pumping you can just strip them clean them and reassemle, paying attention to spring shim and ball orientation.

The bummer is it weighs a tonne and it was bought on eBay. So much money lost in shipping to return it, increasing the overall cost of purchase.

If purchased via PayPal on eBay, and the product is defective, PayPal will reimburse you the cost of freight and chase the supplier for the same. Check with the supplier first, they may want to help out. If not, then raise a claim with eBay. Most vendors seem to respond pretty quick if you indicate you will take it further with eBay, as this materially affects their vendor rating and ability to sell online.
