    These throttle response controllers are marketed a something that is a highly sophisticated. It has absolutely nothing in common with an say ecu remap. That WILL deliver better throttle response, reduced turbo lag, better fuel consumption etc.

    These throttle response controllers just compress the the electronic signal from the accelerator.
    So instead of have having acceleration all the way til flat to the floor, it compresses that into say the first 2/3rds of the accelerator range. You get nothing more from 2/3rds to flat to the floor. All you are doing is moving you foot less to deliver the same amount of fuel. That is as sophisticated as it gets.

    They talk about reduce throttle lag but this isnÂ’t turbo lag although IÂ’m sure they would like you to think so. It canÂ’t reduce turbo lag by somehow spooling the turbo up faster.

    IÂ’m not sure how it reduces fuel consumption when itÂ’s taking a smaller movement of the accelerator to deliver the same amount of fuel. You actually have less control over fuel delivery.

    ItÂ’s $250 or press the accelerator a bit harder. YouÂ’ll have to change the settings when you go off-road. How do I know this? I thought of getting one but after a bit of research discovered that it wasnÂ’t worth it.

    If you want something that will really make a difference. Get an ecu-remap. ThatÂ’s what I ended up doing and it was worth the money.

    With these throttle response you are not getting the advantages of a re-map at a much lower price.

    280,000,000 meters per second
    So no need to “speed”the signal up.

    x 2 on the remap. BIG difference & a lot more enjoyable to drive.

    So a little simplistic SeanC, but not far off. The factory throttle response is dulled for slow and small movements and responds less aggressively at light use. It’s not linear like a physical cable to the butterfly used to be, and hence it’s a smoother ride for those with poor foot control. The throttle controller as you suggest manipulates the signal, essentially sending larger values for the same movement which makes the ECU think it’s getting a pedal stomping. As for economy, again it will be manipulating the smooth element of the map and not allowing the extremes of movement that would respond with increased acceleration and fuel usage. After all, its about all the system can do given where it interfaces.
