    Alternator Wiring Harness troubles

Hi, I have a 2008 Landrover Discovery 3 and have had to replace the Alternator. In the process of doing this I have pulled the wires out of the alternator wiring clip. Does anyone have a photo showing the wires in the harness or know which wires go where ? The wires I have are Red, White Green & White Brown. Hope someone might know Thanks

Hopefully this link has the info you need. The diagram covers both petrol and diesel motors

This link describes the generator system including connector C0053 and the pinouts

IMG_7467.JPGThis is the way I’ve put them back in. Does this look right ? I still have the battery light on the dash and when I scan the code it comes up with P0622 Generator Field terminal circuit thanks for the help

Looking at the circuit diagram for a diesel connector C0053 Pin1 is Red, Pin2 White /Purple, Pin3 White /Green

Cant really see the colours in the pic but it looks like white green is in pin2. You dont mention a White/ purple

Try swapping the White/ green to 3. Make sure the red which is battery voltage is in the correct position to avoid bricking the ECU

Maybe someone with a LR3 can visually confirm
I have a RRS which is wired differently so cant help

So I think I’ve fixed the alternator wiring issue as I don’t have the battery light coming up on the dash anymore, but now I have a park brake fault coming up and the car goes into limited gears mode. Also have a surge in the interior lights when car is running. When I scan the code that comes up is P0563 System voltage high. What might be the cause of this ?

So fault seems to occur when I rev the engine. On the scanner the Battery Voltage jumps up to 15.9 v and the errors start. When I just idle the engine the voltage drops back to around 13.5 to 14.5 and error goes away. Any ideas ?

whats the battery voltage with the car turned off, it shouldnt go past 15.0 volts i know ive seen my d4 hit 15.0v with a nearly dead battery after a hard start.
if you got the wiring incorrect you could be giving the field the wrong voltage and therefor forcing the alternator to charge so high.
go to a wrecker or call one and ask them to take a photo of the plug, or better still go and cut it off a harness and come home and solder onto your harness, then you will have an undamaged plug on your car

I just looked at the photo you took and the diagram you were supplied, i would change the two white wires with each other, generally, we read 1 2 3 looking at the male plug,
