Hi Dave.

Assuming that the battery is OK you probably need to reset the system to recognise that there is a new battery in place. I have read in previous threads that this will need to be done whether or not that is the reason for your problem. This can be done with a GAP IID tool if you have access to one. If not I believe that a hard reset may do the trick but please confirm this before trying it as I'm not expert in these things - just recalling previous posts. I have no doubt that one of our resident experts will be able to advise you more.

I'm not an expert on this, but I was under the impression that the reset part of it was to clear the battery charging history and start again. Not doing the reset shouldn't stop the car from turning over, it just might take a while to adapt to the optimum charging pattern for the new battery...

Did you put the new battery on charge prior to fitting it? They don't always arrive ready to go...

Otherwise, double check terminals - maybe the other (car body) end of the negative cable was disturbed and came loose?

Charged battery overnight just to make sure and just put in and message,"battery low start engine" came up??

Is it a new battery ? Do yu have a volt meter to test how many volts this battery is sitting at.? If you have put the battery on recharge overnight and you have achieved more than when you first fitted the battery then I would guess that the battery you are trying to fit is suspect.

My understanding is that message is the cars ECU telling you the battery voltage is low and that it needs to recharge the battery.

Do you have a dual battery set up in the car ? ie for running a fridge ?

Possibly the battery is a dud? Is it the correct size for the vehicle?

Guys. Nothing wrong with battery. Brand new, correct type and fully charged. When I put old one back in it started??

Well that highlights there is something wrong with the new battery.

Drive to a dealer or independent shop with both batteries and do the swap there. They will do the reset routine to determine if it was that causing the problem. When I had a battery changed by the RAC the guy have a generic tool to try and reset the BMS but it didn't seem to work, so I used my GAP tool and it was easy.
