    Best cranking battery

Thinking it’s time to replace my cranking battery. I keep it on trickle over a weekend at least once per month but I’m still getting fairly frequent “cranking voltage low” warnings from my BM2 and the occasional “low battery” warning in the instruments

    It’s an early 2016 TDV6

    Peace.

    Stop start or normal

Will watch the comments but given the range available now is the stop start technology battery a better option even though the D4 isn’t stop start? Vaguely recall stop start have thinner plates for quicker recharging. So would this mean a less robust battery in off road travel?

    You could add..

Sorry don't know what a TDV6 is. Disco or RR

I would think if you are getting constant low voltage warnings on a battery that is only 3 years old I'm thinking other issues might be present.

IMO get the battery tested. If it's knackered, change it out the battery for the recommended one and not worry about it...(for another 3 years)

But if you wanted something different you could add a Capacitor bank. Especially if you had a "stop start" system. That would be cool.

.. so why are you on this forum then? Best cranking battery

Seriously tho - land rovers (especially diesel’s) are notoriously hard on their batteries .

Only modern LR's, TDI can almost do without.

Sorry my bad. i got to this thread from the "New Post" section and didn't see what you had in your signature block. I neglected to look up to the L319 heading. Or could of had something to do with the Friday night beers .

Personally I like AGM batteries and I have them in all of my cars, bike and Jet Ski and I supply AGMs to my customers. I get a good 5 to 8 years out of my AGMs. (The L322 has a lead acid but that will be changed out soon to an AGM when its battery dies, that will be soon and that one is 3 years old).

The Delkor AGM (DIN85LH) 12V 900cca Battery looks like the one for you as far as price and specifications go.

But the DELKOR - CALCIUM 60038 - CCA 900 A 100 AH looks good too and half the price.

If I had a start/stop system I would put in a super capacitor bank in parallel with the battery (if not already there) to help the battery out. But that might have warranty issues, so maybe not.

Capacitor bank would also wreak havoc with the BMS
