    Home made height sensor links

I was faffing about with my 05 Disco 3 V8 looking for possible air leaks etc due to it not faulting and dropping back to normal height from 4wd height when I noticed something weird cable tied to the height sensor link on the RHF.
It looked like someone has bodgied up a homemade shortened link and cable tied it to the factory one ready to use. I checked the other wheels and found 2 on the back but the LHF must have fallen off.
They look like rubber grommets screwed to plastic rods with brazing rod epoxied on at right angles.
The RHF height sensor link had cracks and splits in the rubber and was quite written so I did a quick bandaid job with super glue and write to reinforce it and went and ordered a set of GOE rods.

I've only just bought the car so I'm still going through it and having adventures.

A common early solution was to cut the LR rods, remove a short length then glue back together.

Better cancel that GOE order, you won't be receiving them anytime soon.

The GOE rods do pop up in the markets section occasionally though, after people on-sell their D3/4’s. Failing that you can always buy OEM rods. I know very little about Johnson rods, which look a lot like the modified ones in your picture, but it might pay to do a search on AULRO.

Handy hint for new players searching the site. Use the search button at the bottom of the page if you wish to search ‘within’ this forum. The ‘advanced’ search at the top searches within the forum also. The top button (easiest to find) just does a webwide google search (next to the magnifying glass symbol) and gives lots of off-AULRO results. Use each for different types of searches. I hope that helps!

Why's that? Are they out of business?

Some just make their own rods out of fencing wire with each end bend around a rubber donut grommet that fits over the mounts on the car.

You can also 3d print some and buy the grommets from repco or the like. Im not sure if the dimensions are available but i have some time off soon and can measure them for you if you like.
