    LR Decals/Badges on seat covers

Lashed out and bought a pair of Eagle Wools in Fremantle front seat sheepskins in beige (to match the existing leather) ready for the 1/2 lap. At $575 each, not cheap, but swambo is worth it, and they look good. I asked about cleaning - apparently milk/coffee spills are the worst. Otherwise spot clean with wool cleaner - dry cleaners are now not the recommended procedure due to the chemicals used/not used.

LR has been doing its magic again - you now can't "legally" source/have the LR badges included (unless of course you buy the same skins, made by the same person, but from LR at twice the price).

RRC MY95 LSE Vogue Softdash "Bessie" with MY99 TD5 and 4HP24 transplants
SADLY SOLD MY04 D2a TD5 auto and MY10 D4 2.7 both with lots of goodies

I bought mine from a company in Malaga somewhere. They are black sheepskin (to match the interior trim) and have Land Rover logo in the backrest.
    Cheers .........

Yep, but LR is stopping everyone (including Malaga and Freo) from legally using their logos - that was the thrust of the post.

It’s called Copyright, Land Rover are protecting their name. I bet if a company wanted to produce a product with the Land Rover logo on they could do it, proving a team of lawyers and a large payment to Land Rover is made.

When you see some of the crap on eBay and the likes with Land Rover branding you can’t blame them for stopping unauthorised use.

I concur completely that it is their right to protect their copyright. A bit of the misquoted "I might disagree with everything you say, but wil defend to the death your right to say it".

The "funny" part in this situation is that none of the other marques are making it difficult to access their logos (for sheepskin seat covers at any rate).

I purchased a D4 style grill from the UK to replace my damaged D3 grill as I prefer the look. I had to buy the badge as a seperate item from them and attach it myself. I presume this avoids copyright issues.

No, I suspect the badge is just a separate line item and part number. It would have been manufactured under licence.
