Compressor lower plastic cover removal is 1 hex bolt, 2 torx screws and 5 clamshell clips (about 1 minute to check properly)

This morning I replaced the compressor in my 2012 SE. It was a Hitachi which I got from Island 4x4 as it was what was fitted originally. Top bolt was a pita but is now slotted if there is a next time

Today I pulled my old Hitachi apart and found that the desiccant had powdered and was blocking the flow.
Repaired it with a repair kit for next time. Simple job and does not take very long. This is the original compressor and I have done 256,000 km with it.

Recommend at same time pull the cover off the electric motor and give both halves a good blow out and blast out with contact cleaner spray like Carby or Brake Cleaner. It’ll be full of carbon dust and appreciate the refresh also. Probably help it run cooler.

4 screws and lift cover off.

This clean. It’s black when you open it.

Run a bit of wet and dry sandpaper on the rotor where the brushes contact.

Carby cleaner will strip the varnish off the windings, contact or brake cleaner ok if you blow it off straight away

Handy to know that as I do use BC 99% although have a tin of CC for its intended use. It evaporates very quickly both of them and both clean degrease dirty parts effectively.
