Is Dr Tranny Need if no shudder

    hello all

i am about to do a full flush of the zf6 gear box and wondering is Dr Tranny needed as a preventive measure for the future or dont worry about it. i dont have any shudder issues with the gear box but was thinking it cant hurt for the low cost of 45 dollars for 2 tubes, and on that how much do you put in 1 or 2 tubes.

    cheers.

My experience only: I had a shudder. Minor and only at a certain point (3rd gear higher torque load). I bought two tubes to add with a fluid change. However, after doing a sump off fluid drop and new filter followed by a second drop and fill the shudder was gone (actually it was gone after the first drop) so I decided not to put the Dr Tranny in. Box remained smooth and shudder free for the next 18 months until I sold the car recently.

I'd not put the Dr Tranny in if you haven't got a shudder.

This has been discussed previously both here on AULRO and Disco 3. I'd suggest reading those threads. Heres one to get you started Dr Tranny for Auto Shudder fix . Google will help you find the rest.

Personally I always start with a default position of avoid all additives. Generally, in my opinion, their band aid solutions. So if you have no issues, why put a bandaid on it? Potentially it could cause an issue as your now no longer running the manufacturers spec lube.
Sure if problems are being experienced and a flush didn't fix it then it's probably worth a shot as your eventually up for a rebuild always so if it can delay then then it's all bonus time.

I wouldn't use any extra additives in the oil unless it was a last resort
