I have the BT version of the GAP IID tool installed on MacBook Pro, iPad Pro and iPhone X. Works without problems on all three.
Can you leave the iid attached or do you only attach when using it?
Just to qualify that, you don't actually have to. Quite often if I'm just stopping for fuel or ducking into a shop I won't bother. Just chuck the tablet/phone in the glove box (which I do anyway) and it's all up and running when I get back.
Yes, it stops the car shutting down fully but it doesn't cause any issues aside from increased battery drain.
Also, there is no apparent issue disconnecting after you are out and the car is locked. You probably should deliberately disconnect, but many times I've walked away and forgotten to disconnect and the connection seems to time out. Leave the tablet in the glove box with it connected though and the car will go flat before the tablet does :)
Sounds like the nanocom in my D2 is a better idea! I leave it permanently attached and set to start in instrument mode. Super easy & idiot proof
