Hi, that report says there is 5mm left in front brakes, that's heaps, if you don't have a warning on the dash for brake wear then the car is probably ok, we used to get our work utes serviced at a dealer who wanted to do brakes every service, I had to look myself before we sent car in, that way we could say yes or no. At those kilometers it's likely your first set of pads and rotors, have an independent have a look at them for you, but I drive mine till the dash warning comes on, the replacement sensor that wears out with the pads is cheap now.

As for your bushes, do you have any noises? If not again probably fine, these cars do wear out brakes and bushes, however at 47k I suspect the servicing agent is playing on it a little.

If you are going to replace brakes at any stage, I use the RDA rotors mentioned above, the standard rotor they make is much better then most you will buy and will last at least 2 sets of pads.

Driving with worn bushes won't hurt anything before you notice it, and you will notice it when it does finally happen, happened for me at about 100k

My MY13 has 118,000 klms and the bushes appear fine and certainly no noises. Methinks your service supplier could be looking for additional work and is being a trifle too picky. I agree with others on this post who say wait until the bushes become worn enough to cause clunks/noises. Watch the tyres for uneven wear due to alignment problems caused by the worn bushes. Shop around for the disc/pad replacement; it is a very straightforward job and your quote seems a bit on the expensive side of things. "Modern" discs are softer than those of many years ago, the purpose is mainly to help reduce squeal noise and as a result they are "sacrificial" as such, hence reason for disc wear at 47k in city driving. Others on this site can recommend best type of pad to use for best braking with low noise/dust etc. Discs can be machined of course if width remains within specs, and that can be a worthwhile option.

The reality of brake discs is not that they are soft.

First - no asbestos, so the filler is metal based
Second - the vehicle weight is twice that of a car but stops just as quick, how do you think that’s achieved?

City driving is a bitch on vehicles, stop starts, lots of ignition cycles, cold/hot cycling, spoon drains, roundabouts etc. these all conspire to ruin a heavy vehicle as it works to navigate them.

Oil dilution is also significantly worse - hence why city life if considered extreme duty and should be serviced as such.

Really?? On a 2.7T car? I find this statement very hard to believe. More like half that!

I got 110,000km but I don’t live in the city.

Most city residents seem to get 45-65k

True true, most of my ks are highway as a daily driver, then towing then offroading, i got 120,000km out of the OEM rotors and pads which i thought was pretty good for a 2.7t car
