It's powered through the ignition circuit (as you know). See attached.
You would need to run a new wire from an unused permanently powered fuse in the under dash main fuse box. But I'd recommend against that. Ideally, if you need to permanently power a circuit for running a fridge, battery recharge station, camp radio etc., then you are better of to do that from a second battery.
Most on here (me included) would recommend Traxide. I left the Landrover 12v ignition supplied plug alone and ran my Traxide cable to a new usb & 12v plug on the same side. I also power another 12v socket, battery charging station, additional interior lights and an ARB twin compressor via a marine fuse box. All powered by the second battery via Traxide.

Hi squigs83, before you do anything about a second battery install, please give me a call, or post up any enquiries you have, here in your thread.
I have just had a poor sole, with a D3, phone me this morning, because he was having problems with his setup.
He had quite literally been suckered into fitting a grossly over priced setup, that was not only not charging any of his batteries the way they should have been, but the setup was actually causing his cranking battery to be discharged, when ever he was parked up and still connected to his caravan.
Who ever had installed his setup had mounted a 120Ah AGM in the rear cargo area ( totally unnecessary ), then fitted a 25 amp DC/DC device to charge it and as if this wasn’t a big enough waste of money, they had run THIN cabling to power the DC/DC device, which is not charging his battery with out doing a long drive.
But to make matters worse, they had run the same thin cabling, UNDER THE D3 which is a big No-No, to another 25 amp DC/DC device mounted in his caravan, to charge two 120Ah AGMs
The only time the caravan batteries would charge, was when he used the caravan DC/DC to regulate his solar panels.
No amount of driving would allow the caravan batteries to get any charge and as above, if he left the D3 connected to his van, the DC/DC was discharging his cranking battery.
For a fraction of the cost, he could have had a far superior setup, that would actually work.
NOTE he was not a member here and did not know about the AULRO website. He does now.
Again squigs83, ask any question you have about a second battery install before you do it.
I suggest you ignore the factory plug. Connect your second battery through a Traxide or other DBC to your first battery. Then run a connection from your second battery to a plug to power your fridge or whatever. That way you will have constant power from the second battery, but the DBC will protect the first battery from being drained. To further improve the system, put a solar panel on the roof and connect it to the starting battery to keep it charged.

Will defiantly be going with the Traxide system in the next few weeks but as i live in Perth WA and have a trip to Tom Price via Coral Bay this weekend (very short notice moving for work) i just wanted a quick fix. I have a MDC camper trailer that i use for one fridge but wanted to put a second 40L engel in the D4 for baby stuff.
Drivesafe i will be contacting you very shortly on a system for the D4 just have to sort shipping to Tom Price once i get a permanent address.
Dont Suppose anyone Has a spare Mitch Hitch they want to get ride of in Perth WA area?
Also for the people interested the BFG KO2's 265/65/18 have been amazing so far, did a beach run during the week and the D4 ate everything i through at it once i figured out the traction control has to be turned off after starting the car each time. Can this be changed with the OBD reader?

Bummer - looks like we will pass like ships in the night instead of meeting. So looking at oils for the engine, diffs and transfer. What is everyone using and should I go with the 5w-40 for the engine or 10w-40 becuase I am in a very hot part of Oz?
