What happened to your D3/D4 today?
Was booked in this week for a basic oil and filters service, plus transmission service and replace drivers door lock / actuator. 154k km.
But, 2 weeks ago “restricted performance” occurred. Flat bed transport to MR Automotive at Redcliffe. Diagnosed split intake manifold.
Also found coolant leak/s.
While it was out of action, I visited the local Ford dealer and checked out the new Ranger V6. Thought it was pretty good for a Ute. Very car like. Tempting, but a long waiting list.
On the way to collecting the D4 today, I robbed a couple of banks and sold first born to cover the bill. It was a large one.
D4 is so much quieter, and has far more get up and go than the Ranger V6, despite very similar engine specs 180kw vs 184kw, both 600Nm. 8 speed vs 10 speed transmissions. 2 turbos vs 1. D4 is heavier.
Next job is to repair the kangaroo inflicted damage to the front bumper, grill and headlight. At least insurance will cover most of this one.

Nah. 2 separate events.
1: Skippy broke the front of the car. Insurance pays.
2: 9 year old D4 engine components start failing. I pay.

Yeah it’s a nice vehicle. Not D4 ride but good for its catagory.
It is quicker than the D4s though - 8.4s vs 9.3s 0-100km/h
The 10 speed makes it feel softer and it doesn’t have the second turbo for that higher speed shove.
We drove the XLT and Wildtrak. The later is quieter.
