That's interesting. During the Madigan Line crossing last year, I started hearing what I thought was the "EAS rattle of death". Turned out to be compacted sand/dirt between the compressor and the plastic cover and the plastic cover and the ProSpeed EAS guard. Once it was cleaned out with the official tool (alright, a couple of dodgy screwdrivers poked into the gaps) all was good. I was wondering whether to do away with the plastic cover and/or to drill more holes in the ProSpeed guard. Didn't think about chamfering, but it is a good idea.
On the other hand, now I know what the issue is, cleaning it all out periodically is not really an issue. And do I want holes in the guard to allow water in during river crossings here in the Vic "Alps"?
Dunno. Mind you, I don't expect the EAS system to last beyond ten years anyway, so will replace the compressor (and almost certainly the air bags/shockers) before the next Simpson crossing later this year.

The plastic guard has drain holes… they left marks on the inside of the Prospeed plate.

I drilled the plate there also…..

It rains, it pours. SSB main battery lasted 2 1/2 years before constant low voltage issues. New Varta G14 instead. Cost more but last one lasted 5 years. It gets a good 5 hour drive a day so it wasn’t low state of charge from short trips.

Cripes, you working in Bunbury these days?
Less than 3 years for a battery that is reputed to be "better" is not entirely flattering.

Yep... that was exactly the same situation I experienced. Indeed, all the drainage holes in the compressor casing were blocked... and I used the same specialist removal tools as you. Thanks to the feedback, I think the flushing routine suggested is the go.... and maybe some extra drainage holes in the guard. I would leave the original casing as is.

You didn’t BUY the new battery did you?
Given the SSB has a 36 month warranty.

I needed one now and SSB retailers are not open on the Easter weekend so nope. I might still take it and have it replaced free of charge - not that I know what I’d do with it. I wonder what the shelf life is of an unused battery?

I had reduced performance on the way to work this morning... 100km/h or rev limited whichever it is. Pulled over and turned it off, sat for a couple of minutes doing some Doctor Google - turned it back on and it had cleared and was fine for the rest of the day?

I live 20min outside the city, and less than 800m and I'm on a 100km/h road. I generally drive through the little estate I'm in which is 3km then onto said road and not had the issue before...

We are both in new jobs and the good lady is back full time for the first time in decades so no remote traveling in the foreseeable future. Also we are beginning to plan for retirement and the D3 would have been going to a better home in a couple of years anyway so it has ended up that now is the time.
Removed from sale as we have reverted to plan B and the Hyundai will be sold. D3 will be offloaded for what we can get for it once the retirement 4WD is sourced.
