    My 2015 D4 is coming up to 160,000 km in 4.5 yrs. What should I have done?

    My 2015 D4 is coming up to 160,000 km in 4.5 yrs - maybe half of that towing a 6.5 M/2,500 kg boat.

    its been a fantastic vehicle. Just completing a 10,000 km trip around eastern Australia - never missed a beat.

    I had the gear box serviced at 80,000 km and the cam shaft belts will be done at the 160k service.

    Is there anything else I should have done?

    At belt change also replace cause itís easier;

    Water pump
    Plastic coolant junction top of motor
    Alternator
    New coolant

    Hard to say off hand as you may well have done heaps of preventative maintenance. Assuming you've replaced transfer case and diff oils and air, fuel and pollen filters I'd say you have most things covered.

    Well, its had regular services and everything ever required. As I said, I had the transmission serviced at 80k, so I assume that I should have the transmission oil replaced at 160k. Will check on the diff oils and air/fuel/pollen filters.

    some would say...'sold it'

    nothing went wrong on mine till 200,000 + kms - but:
    • lower control arms
    • maybe airbag/struts?
    • depends on how it all feels
    • brake rotors due?

    Now at 300,000kms - still love it.

    As already mentioned;
    (apart from all the driveline fluids, brakes etc, serpentine belt, common service items)

    *timing belts.
    *top plastic coolant housing.
    *coolant expansion tank, or at least the cap (they can get leaky round that km's).
    *front lower control arms (only if getting clunky over bumps or braking).
    *maybe service kit through air compressor.
    *tune out egr (they get problematic round that km's).
    *top intercooler hose (if it hasnt been done already, only use a genuine one).
    *look at top rad hose, make sure its not rubbing on engine cover.

    *maybe rear shocks if its feeling a bit too floaty in the rear end.
    *spraying a good silicone spray on rubber suspension parts will extend their life greatly (ensure silicone spray is a "safe for plastic/rubber" ).
    Regards

    Check lower intercooler hose too, and drain out any oil from the intercooler.

    What about wheel hubs and bearings? What is the service life of them generally?
    Or is it just more an item you replace once showing sings; unless youíre planning a big lap trip or similar?

    Thanks to all who have contributed so far. This is really helpful!

    I am compiling a list of items and will have a conversation with my service provider. It looks like being one hell of a service, for a vehicle that drives like its brand new.

    I am budgeting $10k. If it doesn't get to that, I'll trick it up a bit more with the change!
