Way too many things give restricted performance mode.
Codes? surely that is pointing your indy in the right direction?
Test work not guess work, but the below is only guess work:
*low output on the low pressure fuel pump in tank.
*feed signal from said pump short to ground.
*fuel pressure sensor faulty (on the common rail, passenger side).
*Injectors will fault code if pressure sensor is faulty.
*high pressure pump solenoid intermittently failing.
*high pressure pump failing, see if there is any nasty metal bits ending up in fuel tank.
*gear on end of high pressure pump is loose (the nut can come slightly loose) and is slipping under high load, torque.
*low coolant level (its leaking out to the point of being very low).
*egr faults. (under load, more common on a 3.0lt though).
*A lot of the above can trigger a transmission fault which should be ignored until engine is sorted
