I have a ticking noise on initial start up. From what I’ve read others have had success resolving this with a new oil pump. It’s worth a try and I’m happy to do so.

Ticking noise is two possibilities. As the engine pressure comes up there is a ticking for about a second. This is normal and is normally the hydraulic lash adjusters coming up to pressure and taking up the slack. This won’t change with a new pump. Mine has a new pump and still operates like that. It’s normal.
The other one is the fan clutch noise which is a clicking sound. That’s also normal.

Add this to your shopping list

If you dont already have one you will need the special tools to lock the flywheel and pulleys in position

Here is a link to a cheap knockoff set that will do the job
    https://www.ebay.com/p/18022656136?i...iABEgLDqfD_BwE

There is another tool to lock the flywheel whilst releasing and torquing the crank bolt (cant remember torque spec but it up there). Ive just used the positioning tool to lock the flywheel when dealing with the crank bolt but take a deep breathe and hope it holds!

You may be lucky but be prepared to remove the plating on the fly wheel locking tool.Just takes time sanding it off to enable clearance into the bell housing.

Yes thats right I had to machine mine to fit. And taking the starter motor out was the hardest part of the whole job, for me

Thought I'd finish off this thread with a consolidated purchase list that might benefit others in the future. Note that these are the part numbers suited for my MY12 D4 2.7 TDV6, most should be the same for all vehicles with the 2.7L Lion TDV6 motor other than a couple that I've noted where I'm aware of/can recall:

    LR016655 front timing belt kit
    LR019115 rear timing belt kit
2x 1311306 timing belt idler pulleys
Kits: Some retailers offer their own put together kits inclusive of all the above. These may be cheaper than buying items separately but check that decent brands are used within the kit - I'd suggest staying with Dayco the OEM provider.
Optional: 2x LR004104 idler pulleys bolts to suit 2x 1311306 timing belt idler pulleys - not necessary to replace though as not one-use only and only torqued to 25Nm.

    Tools for the job:

QP1924100 flywheel locking and camshaft timing kit - there are other part number versions, but I found this to be the most price competitive through Island4x4. Note that apparently the Ford Territory kits are not fully compatible as one or two of the tool items are sized differently.
Laser LZ6124 Viscous Fan spanner set. There are cheaper sets available through eBay etc. but their quality looks much inferior.

If replacing the oil pump (e.g. for vehicles with the earlier faulty design that's known to cause catastrophic failure):
LR076782 oil pump - although it looks to me that the locally available Ford (FoMoCo) version (part number 4R8Z6600A) is cheaper to source even compared to importing from the UK, and given that the motor was fitted to the Territory after finishing in the D4's it's likely to be the most up to date design.
1102415 crankshaft oil seal - fitted to the oil pump after the oil pump is fitted to the block.

LR013377 M16 crankshaft bolt - TTY (stretch type) so a replacement is necessary. Note that earlier model motors (with the weaker crank) used a smaller M14 version with the same thread pitch which as such will thread in but not tighten properly. You can identify the correct part by your VIN:
    LR002458 14mm x 70 7A000001 to 9A501901
    LR013377 16mm x 70 9A501901 onwards
Note that if the 10th character is a letter rather than a number then you've got a later motor and the M16 is suitable.

    Optional additional maintenance tasks:

    PQS500370 serpentine belt accessories
    LR009324 water pump

LR073372 plastic water outlet. Note only includes two out of the three o-rings for replacement. The third is not available individually from Land Rover. Citroen/Peugeot part number 198171 is a correct fit and match though. Or Tombie advises that BS211 in viton material is suitable too (see https://www.aulro.com/afvb/l319-discovery-3-and-4-a/275751-water-exchange-thermostat-unit-replacement-2.html for discussion).
Fitting can require disturbance of the throttle body and EGR which means you then need these additional parts too:
Throttle body Rear seal - 1316152 - two required
    Throttle body Front seal LR008353
    EGR pipe clip 1311338

There's a pretty comprehensive guide on DISCO3 on how to do the job. Parts are on the way for me to be done during the Christmas holidays.

Can anyone recommend places that are selling the Ford oil pumps?
Jefferson Ford in Victoria seems to be selling online and through Ebay, but wont ship to me in New Zealand.

The local Ford dealers want to charge over $600 for this oil pump, so would like to try get one from Australia if possible.

Have you thought about just buying the Land Rover one then from the UK? Might work out cheaper and easier to do so.

Otherwise you could call various Ford dealers in Australia, speak to their spare parts department and as them if they'll ship over to you - might find however that they're not allowed to as might have a geographical barrier put on them to protect the NZ dealers.
