    2.7L Engine Oil Operating Temp?

Anyone happen to know the ideal engine oil operating temp (and maybe range?) for the 2.7L TDV6?
I'd normally assume it would be the same for all related engines, but in this day and age?

Mine's a 3.0l. This was on a hot day towing my brick. Oil normally sits in the 120's.

Cheers. About the same 133 engine oil temp for brick towing on a warm day.

Just being OCD/CDO and wondering if there is any significant impact on service interval needs for long distance/term towing. I service every 10K/10 months max.

I service every 10K/10 months max - usually time rather than km limited as I tend to do under 10K pa in normal circumstances, unlike the recent 21K in 3 months.

What you do would classify as Arduous use.
Just service by that schedule and use high quality lubricants.

I would expect 10-15° above coolant temps so that looks about right.

As Mike said, if you're using the right oil those temps aren't an issue.

Cheers Mike. Have always "over-serviced" and "pre-maintained" my cars including quality lubricants etc - now looked after by local Indy DazzaTD5 on here, who is also OCD.

Must be in the blood from my mechanical engineer dad!!

Pre-maintained = maintain in pre-anticipation of failures, although I/we don't always get it right. Alternator and front diff buggered on the recent big trip.

Cheers. The D2a used to get a bit warmer towing (sometimes crawling) on hills, even with an extra HD trans cooler, but the D4 seems to handle it with almost aplomb.
No need to consider extra trans or engine oil cooling capacity for the 2.7 by the look of it.
Still pleased to have the GAP Tool in instrument mode though.
