If you don’t want the colour change use nulon, don’t use the genuine coolant, it’s Castrol, its junk, for some reason Castrol coolants leak, in the case of my d4 was from a fitting on the side of the block, was a bitch to change. All Castrol coolants give me grief, but I love their oils.
I’m pretty sure caterpillar ELC coolant is also compatible, but I haven’t followed that up yet in full, it’s a different colour, if it’s good I’ll change the coolant bottle at the same time.
And yet they state both RED and BLUE are compatible with WSS M97B44-D so either they’re wrong or you’re wrong?
I can’t find a copy of the formal spec (free) to verify if it specifies silicate free. I don’t believe that the spec does require that which would be why Penrite list red as compatible.

Penrite recommend only the Blue 8yr for any later model D3/D4/Defender.
Blue is G30,
Red is G40
Both meet M97-B44-D

So, we can conclude -
- the spec doesn’t command silicate free (unless Penrite are wrong - wouldn’t be the first time!)
- we can assume that the silicate free products are also able to meet the Ford spec and may be preferred. I’m always up for improvements.
