    2010 3ltr D4 SE aftermarket radio (finally)

    The only thing that bugged me with my SE is that it wasn't fitted with the OEM touchscreen. Navigation and even the 4x4 information didn't phase me as much as bluetooth and USB music, Pod cast and talking books when travelling.

    AeroPro did a kit for the HSE but not the SE which was a little anoying as there must be heaps of SE's out there with the same issue.
    So I pestered them a lot and along with my local AeroPro distributer at Cairns Custom and Car Sound and 8 months of backwards and forwards I have a Kenwood DMX8018S installed in my car....

    I was unsure if the low fitting of the unit was going to be an issue.. After a couple of days driving it's not and here in Cairns my wifes screen seems to get a lot of reflection in her Discovery Sport
    This fitment gets rid of the redundant knobs and push buttons as well.

    The Kenwood unit I installed, has Android/iPhone Auto, reversing camera, it also has a dashcam, lane departure and a forward collision warning.

    All steering wheel controls work including mobile phone.

    Me and my new buddy "Hello Google" are having a wonderful time, I am Waze to navigate, I could use Google maps. It tells me the weather and the news at any time.
    I am going to patch my phone so that I can mirror my mobile which has off-road maps on it.

    I am hust setting up my USB drive with Books, Podcast which I can also do live, music and many other things i listed to when driving.

    Having done similar to my D3 it really makes a big difference.

    Nice work Tony.

    What’s the clock on the instrument cluster do now?
    Has this new kit got a method for setting the date and time on the vehicle?

    It’s the one reason I haven’t pulled the pin on installing an aftermarket system.

    I wonder if this would be completely compatible with the 2013 D4 SE also. Like you I love the standard unit & functions but hate that I can’t use Apple car play.

    There are modules to add CarPlay to the 2013+ systems without replacement.
