    Castrol or Penrite

I am using in the 3litre twin turbo 2013 the Castrol edge professional C1 in a 20 litre drum. I Cant comment on the longevity as it has only done 8000km with this oil but it is what my Indy uses.

And if it’s what your Service guy uses it’s good to stick with it for top ups etc.

I service both our vehicles now so I can use what I like.
For me the additional bonus is the oils I use are both TDCi and TDV6 spec. Same for some of the driveline fluids.

That's what I used in my D4 from 70k to 210k no issues

I have a feeling this one may be discontinued as I can't find it listed anywhere, Penrite website does not list it either

Only purchased some from Supercheap last week.

And at Repco it’s labeled as “Vantage”

My apologies. The one I listed is the one I use.
HPR Diesel 5 also meets the spec

The positive point from this little chat has been I now know the Castrol Edge I had been using for last 3 oil changes is not the right oil!

I'm undecided on the Penrite at this stage but will switch to the Castrol Magantec Professional A5 5W-30. It does meet the Ford spec.

    cheers

Personally I default to Penrite for our oils and lubes. Easily accessible locally from Repco and Supercheap Auto, priced well, generally well recommended and do the job. I did the first service of the MY12 D4 TDV6 with Penrite but the second has changed to Castrol as I was given four bottles for free of the Edge 5W-30 A3/B3 product - so it will stay Castrol for another three services now. After which I’d like to change back to Penrite but I’m also not a fan of changing oils around so will likely just stick to the Castrol.

I hope you have drained it all out now and filled with the correct stuff rather than waiting - damaged engine is far more expensive and inconvenient than the cost of a quick oil change.

If you want to stay with the Castrol Edge range instead of Magnatec, which I think is Castrols higher premium oils, you can buy their Edge 5W-30 in the A3/B3 spec - not LL (Long Life) version that’s you previously purchased - this is recommended in their lube guide for use and meeting the specs.

I have not looked for for the non dpf, but for the dpf they recommended edge PROFESSIONAL Which is only available through trade outlets. That's what I ran until I read further and noticed I was non dpf and could run penrite
