Id go simple things first. Tyres. If bored place your spare on one corner at a time. and go for a drive. Each time. Check bearing movement, pressures are correct while your changing as above post. Very common tread block type sound. Sounds like your diff is going to drop out. May have some slight delamianition going on that may not to noticeable till rolling at speed. 
Have not experienced on my disco but with other light weight front wheel drive cars. The rear tread blocks deform ever so slightly and hum away. 
And rotate front to back while your at it. Have a good look at even tyre wear. 
Of course it could be more serious but the above check will only cost you time.
