    I agree Eric, I couldn’t see the purpose of the hole or what you would be looking for...it is most likely a remnant of the past. As to the toughness of the factory sump plate...it did look to be reasonable, but it is all relative to what it may bash up against. One area not to neglect is the Air Compressor and the APT kit is worth looking at. Ben has put together some informative install videos for all the kit APT Offroad

    Mine disappeared. One day was looking under there and it was gone. I'm not sure if it fell off or somebody failed to refit it after some service work. The APT guard is certainly better.

    I reckon it was left off. It has 6 bolts holding it on and is wedged under the front plate.
