Llams install help! Anyone in Perth happy to take a look for me please

    Hi guys,
Purchased a second hand Llams kit from a forum member last year. It's been sitting in my cupboard since then.
Installed it tonight ready to leave on my Karijini trip on Thursday.
Followed the Llams provided instructions. Pretty easy install except that you need to be a bit of a contortionist!
However, I've re-connected by batteries and nothing seems to be happening with the Llams.
The lights on the Llams switch are coming on (green, none, orange and red) for the 4 settings, however the Disco isn't Discoing!
There were no error messages on the car when I re-connected the batteries.
The factory suspension is still going up and down from the factory switch as normal. But no Llams control it appears.
As per instructions I pushed the connectors together tightly and they clicked etc.
(There seems to be an led light on the big black box that's under the dash by the A-pillar, that isn't lighting up. Not sure if it supposed to. No mention of that in the instructions. Thought I'd mention it though).

    Thoughts anyone?

Anyone in Perth willing to take a quick look for me perhaps please, say on Sunday arvo? I'm south of river in Coogee, but happy to drive to you.

It's been turned off I think. Where is your red mode button installed? Mine's under the steering wheel and if it's pushed in combination with the main switch being off the Llams module is locked.
If it's this, pressing the red button once while main switch is off should activate Llams.

    Regards,
    Scott

Locked mode will prevent height changes but should also cause the module LED to alternate between red and green. If calibration has been done without changing between normal and off-road height then also no movement but the module LED should slowly flash green.

If the module isn't an early version then I suspect that the calibration switches haven't been set correctly for the vehicle which due to differences in height sensor operation between early and later D3 or D4 can result in no height changes. If the switches are correct then please PM me a picture of the inside of the module so that I can be sure of the model.

Edit: The wire connections to early button switches were insulated as a pair which could lead to no height changes if the 2 switch terminals were squashed together. After an instance of this the switch terminals were individually insulated. To test, unplug the button switch to see if the problem is overcome.

Thanks Scott. Red button installed in exactly the same place as yours (and the master knob is on the left side of the steering wheel column like yours as well). It is on as the led lights are changing through the correct colours. To check that it is on I just turn it off using your instructions and now the led light donít come on in any setting. Turning it back on using your instructions the led lights are now working again in each setting but the height change isnít occurring.

Thanks Graeme. Will check all your thoughts including the wire connections and also will PM you a photo of the internals.

Thanks Gavin. I appreciate the offer. Not sure a working one will shed any light on the issue at this stage but will be in touch if I need to check it out. Thanks again

No need for the photo as the red/green indicates locked mode. Press the button switch once while the rotary switch is off which should turn off the module LED and restore the rotary switch functionality.

Ok, did that and module LED went off, but rotary switch functionality does not seem to do anything height wise??

Edit. In addition, I Was just driving and came up with a suspension warning (something about 50km/hr) and dropped down onto the bump stops. Turned car off and back on and risen off the bump stops now. Still trying to work out how to get the Llams to work though....

Edit 2. SUCCESS!!! On Graeme's prompting I checked the pins (see photo). And then in the instructions it said to calibrate by connecting the calibration (CAL) pins together momentarily with a small screw-driver. The green light came on for 3 seconds and then went off. And now Success, all working! So looks like the unit wasn't calibrated hence not responding to inupts.

    Thanks everyone!Llams.jpg
