Hi All
just finished installing my LLAMS Unit (despite the crap instructions) and it works great - quick question though?
When the vehicle is set to extended mode (LR factory switch) and the LLAMS is set to High (+50mm) that is the highest the vehicle will go using combined vehicle and LLAMS settings.
Apparently this is close to the OEM hyper extended mode the vehicle would go to when it senses your really stuck.
Question - what happens if I am at hyper extended (LR Vehicle switch + LLAMS) and then get stuck - the vehicle will then automatically try go what it thinks it Hyper extended but that’s infact hyper hyper extended. Wouldn’t this be too extended and cause damage?
My head hurts - hope I explained it clearly enough 😁

When the suspension ecu detects that height doesn't increase when it considers there is more height available it will fault. In this situation select a lower combination, normally by switching Llams off so that the height sensor values are no longer modified or at least select Llams medium for less height, then cycle the ignition to overcome the fault condition.
My suggestion when travelling slowly over very rough terrain is to use native off-road height then add Llams medium for extra height and only use Llams high when absolutely necessary.

i see two main reasons for having LLAMS intervene in the factory settings.
One is to lower the car to the high-speed height for normal travel (there’s lots of info on here about the merits of doing that). The other is to hold the car in off-road height when on rougher gravel roads and where your speed may exceed 40kph. The car will otherwise lower automatically if you exceed 40kph and on many outback roads this can be a problem. The lowering from off-road height is built in to the vehicle design to maintain stability and minimise risk of rollovers at higher speeds.
The super extended height is really only useful, and safe, in really slow, rough going. There is a big risk of damaging cv joints and other driveline damage, especially on full lock or full suspension droop, so use with care.
Then there is super extended height which you can “force” the car into if you are hung up on something.
LLAMS is also handy to quickly drop the car to access height when you need it.
So I would only use LLAMS when you really need it and unless you are doing really technical off-road stuff, that’s not very often.
Cheers

The Ranges of the LLAMS unit overlap a bit depending on the LR Height selection.
I think in pictures so this is how I got my head around it.
Just FYI, the D3 in the gif I posted, that was two photos in a loop, Access Height + LLAMS-Low, and Off-Road Height + LLAMS-High
